As of the third quarter of 2021, the oil and gas industry contributed roughly one-third of Angola's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The extraction and refine of crude oil and natural gas added 28.9 percent to the country's economy, slightly below the share recorded in 2020 (32 percent). Angola is the second largest oil producer in Africa, having recorded an output of nearly 65 million metric tons in 2020.
